Product Reviews: Back to the Future with Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

Samsung’s take on the modern day flip phone, a smartphone of the future? To be honest, my favourite mobile back in the day (and yes, I’ll be dating myself) was the Motorola Razr from the late 90s. I loved that mobile as it was sleek, slim, and the epitome of cool.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip (now say that fast five times… it doesn’t roll off your tongue, right?) is a full screen mobile phone that they claim could change the future. Samsung fans queued up (Singaporeans love queueing up though) and the Galaxy Z Flip has sold out (to date).

It fits in your pocket, given that it can fold into half its size. It has revolutionary flexible glass and includes a camera made to stand on its own. I swear I just heard the vloggers and Instagram selfie lovers squeal with delight. Most importantly, its dual battery ensures that it can last a day, or so they claim.

When you unfold the Galaxy Z Flip so as to free stop angles and place it on a flat surface in order to activate Flex Mode whereby it can be optimised for a hands-free selfie or vlogging experience with both top-screen viewing and bottom-screen controls. They have even optimised it for YouTube!

For me, call me paranoid but I’ve learnt to wait until they have fine-tuned it more as I don’t want to be a guinea pig so maybe I’ll wait until the second one or third one comes out.
