​In this first clip, strategic analysis expert, Dr Erik Elgersma discusses the four ways to generate knowledge, the HUMINT (Human Intelligence) collection, what makes for an effective elicitor, and advises on how to maximise market intelligence.

DR Erik Elgersma is director of Strategic Analysis at FreislandCampina, one of the world’s largest dairy companies. He speaks and lectures frequently at universities and on business seminars on the topics of strategic analysis, competitive strategy, and related data analysis and management. He holds a PhD from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, and is alumnus of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Vienna, Austria. Dr Elgersma is the author of The Strategic Analysis Cycle Handbook (and Tool Book)—How Advanced Data Collection and Analysis Underpins Winning Strategies. He lives with his wife and daughter in The Netherlands.
